A child’s primary way of interacting with the world is through play and imagination.

Art therapy supports this innate way of being in the world: by engaging the imagination and the act of play and playfulness, art therapy provides a gentle place for children to explore the world and subtly (very often, unconsciously) process parts of their life that don’t always make sense, such as their feelings, reactions, behaviours, or dreams.

Within the safe boundaries of a therapeutic relationship, children can potentially feel validated and seen, which are essential conditions for a human being to cultivate the feeling of self-confidence and trust with the world.

“In the world of imagination, all things belong” – Richard Hugo
